FIRST QUARTER RECAP:
Is it really already the most wonderful time of the year? I feel like it was still summer yesterday! Since the start of school, Villa has been very busy. We welcomed in the Class of 2016 with a “Sweet 16”-themed Freshman Orientation, and had the Fall Spirit Day, Ring Day, and the Halloween Dance already!
Villa’s Freshman Orientation definitely eliminates that common freshman fear of getting lost on the first day of school. During orientation, after some ice-breaker games, I got to lead some of the incoming freshmen on a tour of Villa. The girls got to see the new third floor even before the upperclassmen! The girls met their teachers and figured out where their classes are located around the school—something I found very helpful back when I was first coming here (it seems like yesterday…). On the second day of orientation, the girls learn about a very important Villa tradition: skits! Villa girls put on skits every chance we get. This year, the girls got songs and a grab bag of props and had to figure out how to pull it all together. I am happy to report that my group won for best use of song (“Aaron’s Party”)!
This year’s Halloween Dance was probably one of my favorites because I got to work in the Haunted House that Villa girls put together the days before the dance. I definitely heard some familiar screams as I jumped out in the last moments of the dark rooms. Once my shift was over, I went outside to enjoy the dance with my classmates and boys from Holy Ghost, Saint Joe’s, and LaSalle. There are always such a variety of costumes: from babies to donuts, this dance definitely brings out people’s creative sides. Personally, I went as a dinosaur.
In more recent events, a few of my friends and I cut off 8+ inches of our hair for Beautiful Lengths! Then we had the Thanksgiving Feast last week. I can’t believe a quarter is already over, but there is a lot more ahead to keep me busy. Well, until next time…
