THE LAST THINGS:
Junior Year is approaching its final week and a half, and I can honestly say that my first three years before ruling the school flew by. I can’t articulate how quickly this time has passed. I will call you crazy outright if you talk about the fact that I am basically a senior in high school. I’m not ready for those last things, as you could call them. The last first day of school; the last summer waiting anxiously for class schedules to plan lunch seating arrangements with my friends; the last end-of-year ceremony we will have with the rest of the school coming up on May 31.
On a more positive note, the always anticipated Spirit Day took place yesterday afternoon! Spirit Day is one of my favorite events at Villa. The little kid in me loves stuffing my face with sugar (which, let’s face it, I do everyday anyway) and jumping in the bounce houses and blow-up obstacle courses, which are scattered on the school’s lawn. The DJ is always a great addition, and I’m still wearing a washable tattoo on my arm as a souvenir. I’ve definitely earned my street cred with that thing. My friends and I battled it out on a large blow up wrestling square, where we went after each other with giant ear cleaners. I also got to try a whipped cream eating contest, which I had never done in the years before this!
As at all Villa events, food is the star of the production. After being dismissed from class, we lined up and were presented with a feast of hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, water ice, and all sorts of candy and chocolate and desserts! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Ask any of my friends and they will tell you that I am not satisfied unless the desserts are on par, and these passed with flying colors.
Even with a threat of rain earlier in the day, Villa as a whole managed to keep its spirits bright and sunny in anticipation of this fantastic event. All in all, this was the best Spirit Day I’ve had in all of my time at Villa, and I’ve made so many new memories with my friends because of it!
