NO ORDINARY MONDAY MORNING:
On Monday, October 21, 2013, the students of Villa Joseph Marie High School experienced something that they will not soon forget. It was Villa’s Annual Fund Assembly. It started inconspicuously, with Mrs. Cleary talking to us about the importance of giving back to our school through the Annual Fund. It seemed like just a regular assembly…but then, the fun began. The female teachers and staff of Villa started dancing and singing to the “Price Tag/Don’t You (Forget About Me)/Give Me Everything” mash-up from the movie “Pitch Perfect!” Even Miss Newns was back at Villa for the dance. The entire student body, including me, was very surprised, and also hysterically laughing!
That wasn’t the end of the excitement. After the dance, Mrs. Cleary told us about some of the incentives for participating in the Annual Fund. Just then, the stage curtains re-opened, and Mr. Fitz, Mr. Wisniewski, Mr. G, Mr. Z, and Mr. Posner began dancing and singing to the “Bright Lights, Bigger City/Magic” mash-up from “Pitch Perfect.” Let’s just say that the students were laughing so hard that there were tears — many, many tears. As for me, I was just in plain shock. To me, Mr. Posner stole the show, and he’s completely unaware of the amount of girls he made cry that day.
The Annual Fund Assembly is definitely something that the Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will always remember. Seeing how much our teachers care about us and our school made us more excited about giving back. It has been my favorite memory so far from my first year at Villa, and we all can’t wait to see what next year’s assembly has in store for us!
