Fine Arts Week at Villa took place on April 26-30. As part of the week, displays of the students' art pieces were set up in the gymnasium for everyone to admire. Anyone who views them can really see the true artistic talent here at Villa. These talented students put hard work, dedication, time, and patience into their masterpieces, which are an exceptional a sight to see. They are "picture perfect" indeed. There are paintings, drawings, graphic designs, and many more. I really enjoyed looking at them and trying to imagine what the artists might have been feeling as they created their works of art; their minds have to be full of imagination.
Frankly, I am envious of the artistic ability I saw during Fine Arts Week. I wish I could draw or paint like that, but I guess God gave us each our own unique talent! My classmates also commented on how beautifully drawn these pictures were and spoke very highly of them. The artwork was on display for the general public during the Coffeehouse, which took place at Villa on April 30. Among other performances at the Coffeehouse, the school Poets Laureate read some of their poems, the Jazz Band performed harmoniously, and the winner of the Talent Showcase presented her captivating act of martial arts. Fine Arts Week is truly something to appreciate at Villa!

A couple of Wednesdays ago was Villa's Fine Arts Coffeehouse. The event took place in Villa's Gym, and there were plenty of art displays, coffee and biscotti, and assorted entertainment. It's one of those events I might not have gone to if I hadn't been required to go -- I was named the Freshman Poet Laureate and was asked to read my winning poem. Let me tell you, if I hadn't gone, I wouldn't have known what I was missing. The acts were phenomenal. I knew many of the performers, including Sammi, who performed an amazing karate act, and Sydney, whose solo in the Chorus blew me away. There were also poetry readings, including mine (which went even better than I'd dared to hope), musical performances, and a dance routine. The Coffeehouse was a wonderful event with a great atmosphere, and I won't be missing it next year even if I'm not performing.
