ON BEING A JUNIOR:
The ominous Junior Year may be thought of as possibly the scariest out of all of your four years of high school, because the great unknown called “college” is in the somewhat near future. This is the year the colleges really take a look at your grades. You also begin taking the SATS/ACTS, and of course, visiting colleges. The concern over which high school to attend (which I’m sure some of you are experiencing now) comes creeping back, but on a much larger scale! Although most of you won’t have to worry about colleges for a little while, it is important to understand how much Villa helps you prepare for that next portion of your life!
Villa’s Guidance Department helps start your preparation for college right away. Although you may not be thinking about it in your Freshman year of high school (especially when you have so many exciting things going on in this new part of your life!), Villa’s guidance counselors are there to assist you as you think about what you want to do with the rest of your life. During Sophomore and Junior years, the guidance counselors prep you for the PSAT and really put the college application process in perspective.
Villa’s guidance counselors definitely ease any worries you may have about the college application process, so that your Junior year does not have to be solely consumed with concerns about college. You can feel free to enjoy some of the activities that come with being a Junior, such as Ring Day, any of the fabulous dances, or the Thanksgiving Feast!
So even though college is a while away for most of you, just remember how much Villa prepares you for the next big phase of your life after high school!
